While the value of the majority of NFTs has been heavily revised down since the speculative peak last January, some seem to have recovered from the crisis. Recently, a collector took out a loan of up to 1.3 million euros to acquire an extremely rare NFT Mutant Ape from renowned studio Yuga Labs.

A very rare Mutant Ape Yacht club (MAYC) has been sold for 1.3 million Euros

Yuga Labs’ avatar collections are posting huge sales as the entire NFT industry struggles to regain interest. Last week, an NFT from the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) collection was sold for 1.3 million euros.

The Mutant Ape Yacht Club is in a way a supplement to the famous Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) monkey collection popular in show business. This continuity of the project has managed to create a similar excitement to the previous collection. Despite the drop in prices, a common Mutant Monkey is worth around 15.6 eth or 20,000 Euros at current prices.

So why did a collector named recently buy an NFT from the collection for 65 times the base price?

Limited to 20,000 avatars, half of the mutant collection was created by exposing Bored Ape to 3 types of serum. After using the serum, Bored Ape owners were given an NFT Mutant Ape with more or less rare accessories:

  • M1 (common)
  • M2 (rare)
  • M3 (Mega)

This crazy new sale is exactly about a Mutant Ape M3: Mega Noise (#30003). These very rare NFTs in the collection feature 12 monkeys with unique characteristics. Therefore, the sale closes the discovery of these famous Mega Mutants.

A Mega ready for NFT in times of crisis

Mysterious collector didn’t close the entire sale, though… First, under this name, he actually hides a three-person company specializing in the NFT collection and the “metaverse”.

To get Mega Noise, the company applied for a loan of 1,000 ETH or 1.3 million euros. In the arts industry, in the form of bounty tokens, such a practice is being repeated – unpaid bills cost the market almost dearly last August.

As collateral, has put two other Mega Mutant Monkeys into the game. If they do not repay the loan within 90 days, they will lose their equivalent value NFT. Indeed, the collectors Opensea account (NFT platform) already contains 3 Mutant Ape Mega. With this new acquisition, now has 1/3 of these “Mega rare” Mutants.

This new record confirms collectors’ interest in the Yuga Labs studio, the source of the most popular NFT collectibles (BAYC, cryptopunks, etc.). These continue to set outstanding sales records, regardless of the drop in market enthusiasm.
